Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Manager Team Leader, we'll count on you to:

  • Stay updated on regulations and guidelines set by aviation authorities regarding drone operations, while also reviewing internal policies, evaluating their effectiveness and relevance in the evolving landscape of drone operations, and provides insightful recommendations for necessary changes or updates to ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals, fostering a culture of adaptability and compliance within the team.
  • Assist with the procurement of drones, ensuring the acquisition aligns with operational needs and budget constraints, while also working to recover costs associated with this valuable asset through effective utilization and client engagement.
  • Review aerial subcontractors, assessing their qualifications, credentials, and track record to ensure they meet the organization's standards for safety, quality, and reliability, thus fostering strong partnerships and guaranteeing the successful execution of drone-related projects.
  • Conducting and organizing comprehensive training programs for drone pilots, covering essential aspects such as flight operations, safety protocols, regulatory compliance, troubleshooting techniques, and ensuring a proficient and skilled team capable of executing missions effectively and safely.
  • Perform field work (up to 25%), ensuring proper deployment of resources, adherence to operational plans, and real-time troubleshooting to maximize data collection efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality assurance.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to facilitate communication, provide updates on project and initiatives statuses, address any challenges or concerns, and foster collaboration and problem solving among team members, ensuring cohesion and alignment towards achieving project and company objectives.
  • Coordinates with FAA, DoD, federal, and state agencies, as well as clients, to ensure compliance with regulations, obtain necessary permits, facilitate airspace access, and address any specific requirements or concerns, fostering effective collaboration and streamlined communication channels across all stakeholders involved in drone operations. Additionally, responsible for obtaining necessary approvals for each flight, conducting thorough pre-flight reviews to assess safety and compliance with regulations, and conducting post-flight reviews to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of procedures and best practices, leveraging expertise to refine operational protocols, enhance safety measures, and optimize efficiency, thereby contributing to the continual improvement and standardization of processes within the HDR drone operations ecosystem.
  • As a key representative, the drone manager holds a seat on the UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) advisory board, contributing valuable insights and expertise to shape regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and technological advancements, while advocating for the interests and needs of stakeholders, fostering collaboration and innovation within the HDR UAS Community.
  • Be involved in or lead marketing, planning, proposals, and interviews
  • Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues
  • Implement, monitor, and support company policy
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years management experience
  • Professional registration or license
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Part 107 License
